It has taken me the last 13 years to realize just how much of a klutz I am. Before I was married, I thought it was normal to occassionally walk into walls. Not the whole wall, but just to ever so painfully skim the corner of the wall while walking by. I also usually end up misjudging stairs at least once a month. The stairs in my own two storey house, my run-of-the-mill carpeted stairs that I’ve lived with for the past 13 years. Yes.
I’m not the best in spring either. Funny thing called ice this time of year. When I was 16, I slipped on some ice while running out of the house for the bus. I broke the littlest toe on my right foot. I’ve broken it about a dozen times since. While we’re at it, I could tell you about yesterday, when I slipped on the ice while carrying eggs. And milk, and cereal.
I learned today that I should not run for the phone if I have to navigate around furniture. Never mind that the furniture is in the same place it’s always been for the past 13 years. Never mind that I had a clear path, either. Perhaps I should invest in couch legs that go straight down. Did I mention that we keep crutches in the front hall closet? For the past 10 years.
We’re hoping the girls take after my husband’s side of the family.
So let’s just say that my talents lie in other areas; and for the next little while, I’ll be doing them sitting down. A broken toe does not take that long to heal (and I speak from experience) so I’m not worried. I’ll be up and bumping into walls before you know it!
Uh oh. My daughter bumps into things like this ALL the time. So far she hasn’t broken her toe… hope yours feels better soon.
I’m a bit of a klutz too, only I tend to drop things!
Poor you! Hope your toe gets better soon.
I’m also on the clumsy side of normal, but I’ve never broken a toe, just been embarrassed at walking into a pole, or opening a car door and whacking my chin.
Yes to both of those as well… :0)
