The dog’s favourite spot in the morning, in front of the hot air vent.
Elena helping Chadd chop wood for the fireplace. It’s just impossibly cold so far this winter. Friday is supposed to warm up to -12°C, and we are looking forward to it. We ended up buying a Dyson hot + cool fan for Sonja’s bedroom, which is over the garage and won’t stay the same temperature as the rest of the house when it’s -35°C.
The second sock. Was so hoping that all three pairs would be done in time to put them in the stockings. Not. But I got new knitting needles for Christmas, since the dog ate my birch 2.5 mm DPN’s. That bowl in the picture? It’s hand-turned cherry wood, and I found it at the thrift store for 50¢. The wood turner even burned his name and date into the bottom.
New Year’s cookies! Otherwise known as portzelky, they are a deep fried raisin fritter, rolled in icing sugar. Chadd is the master batter maker, so it is up to me to douse them in sugar. Teamwork. Yum.
And now to start my day, just as the sun is peeking over the neighbours rooftops…
we heard it’s unusually cold there … keep warm!
happy 2014!
Oh it does look cold. The dog has the right idea! Love your new kitchen.
