it’s hard not to cry when you leave the Caribbean

St. Lucia is pretty spectacular in January.

And I almost didn’t want to go. It’s really hard for me to leave the kids and dogs and house behind. It was so soon after Christmas, and I felt so disorganized. I know that I get homesick, no matter how great the destination.

All that worry just dissolved on the island of St. Lucia. We stayed at the all-inclusive Sandals Grande. We had booked back in June, when the last thing on my mind was a resort vacation in January. But it’s something I could see doing again.

There is nothing quite like being in the sand, in the sun, in the blissful heat of +28°C in January!

we’ve always talked about a winter getaway like that but have never done it! Sounds quite decadent!!!!!! (I’m looking forward to a beach week in June…..with all the grandkids. Guess it will be a bit different than yours!!!!!!!!!)

Our beaches at the lake were not able to warm up enough after our very cold winter last year, so it was wonderful to swim in the ocean. Very salty, very bouyant and full of little fish that would swim right up to you!
